and Theology for 30 years! Theology-on-Tap begun as a response to a conversation in 1981 among Fr. Jack Wall, Mr. Tom James (both on staff at St. James Parish, Arlington Heights, IL), and a small group of St. James' University of Illinois college parishioners. Theology-on-Tap has since become the premier program of catechesis and evangelization of young adult Catholics in the United States, and in cities and countries beyond our borders. CNN, MSNBC, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, the Chicago Tribune and the Chicago Sun-Times, local television, radio stations and neighborhood newspapers have reported on Theology-on-Tap programs across the country. Here in the Archdiocese of Chicago, Theology-on-Tap is "Still Flowing Strong!" Over the past 29 years, over 200 of our parishes, organizations and campus ministry centers have hosted this program. The numbers cotinue to grow! Additionally, with our permission and support, dioceses throughout the country have hosted Theology-on-Tap for their young adults. In fact, Theology-on-Tap has been hosted in 48 states, and 7 countries! In July 2003, Fr. John Cusick, Director of the Young Adult Ministry Office in Chicago, and Msgr. Tom Kleissler, President of RENEW International, discussed a partnership between RENEW and Theology-on-Tap. Over the past several years, RENEW has strengthened the nationwide initiative, and created some wonderful new tools for dioceses interested in hosting this premier program of evangelization and catechesis.
